Positive Praise...by Lucy

Growing up I never thought I was pretty. I was always overweight. My mom told me that I was a Vietnamese girl, and Vietnamese girls were suppose to look a certain way. In 2009 I met my boyfriend Chris who loved me the way I was. For our two year anniversary I wanted to take tasteful pictures for him. I found out about the Red Light Shoppe through one of my friends. I was really nervous and self conscious about the way I looked, but I booked the shoot. The team made me feel so comfortable. When the pictures were released, I was so pleased with the outcome! So many positive comments and "likes" it made me feel more confident about myself. My boyfriend loved the pictures too! Since then the Red Light Shoppe has boosted my confidence and taught me that we all don't have to look a certain way. I also have met a lot of the other models and have become good friends or sisters with them. Being a Red Light Girl is so much more than just modeling. It's promoting positive body image and it's a sisterhood. I am proud to be a Red Light Girl!! - RLG Lucy

Positive Praise... by Michele

Every woman has a story, a journey and a road that they have walked in
order to become who they were destined to be. For me, that path
started out with hurdles and road blocks, I learned at an early age to
become self-reliant and critical. The harsh reality is that negativity
became the inner dialogue that I had with myself.  A young woman
should be given the gift of how to love and nurture herself. For me,
that lesson came later in life, yet has been more meaningful and

In the last couple of years, I've had the opportunity to make
friendships and bonds with women that have been a reflection of who I
truly am. Not the weak, meaningless woman that so many in my life
tried to say I was. One of those amazing friendships is with Brandalyn
and the Red Light Shoppe, which began in October, 2011. The first time
I was able to shoot with them, my eyes opened to who I was - the woman
on the inside finally mirrored the woman that was on the outside, the
one that everyone was able to see. The self-doubt, criticism and
depreciation stopped. For once, I felt good enough, loved myself and
celebrated the woman that I had become. In many ways, I owned all of
the fabulousness that I was. Not the negative talk from my childhood,
past relationships or marriage. I was given the gift of a network of
women, stitched together with empowerment and blazed with love, which
created a family. We have walked different paths in life, yet we all
came together as Red Light Girls and this resonates within each of us,

simply lying. You are beautiful." -- Steve Maraboli

Positive Praise... by Amber

As always I love my pictures. Love is not a strong enough word.  It never ceases to amaze me at how beautiful they turn out.  You're creative vision is amazing.  I know you don't do this for the praise but you deserve it.

You have helped me to come out of shell, tap into my confidence and face boundaries and fears that I've had for ever.

You are truly one of a kind and I'm blessed to know you.  You are making a difference in so many women's lives.
